The SAT is an entry and scholarship criterion for most highly-ranked schools in the United States.
It is a test of Mathematical and Verbal reasoning. High scores on the SAT qualify students to gain entry into the best schools and to compete for merit-based scholarships. The SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800 (for math, reading and writing) amounting to a maximum total score of 2400. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors in the United States (equivalent to Grades 11 and 12 in Nepal) and is offered several times a year.
