SAT

The SAT is an entry and scholarship criterion for most highly-ranked schools in the United States.

It is a test of Mathematical and Verbal reasoning. High scores on the SAT qualify students to gain entry into the best schools and to compete for merit-based scholarships. The SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800 (for math, reading and writing) amounting to a maximum total score of 2400. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors in the United States (equivalent to Grades 11 and 12 in Nepal) and is offered several times a year. One component of the test is an essay, which is graded by two examiners and is scored on a scale of 2-12 (low to high)

Where is SAT accepted?

The SAT is primarily accepted for college admissions in the United States, although some colleges and universities outside of the US also accept the SAT as part of their admission process. The SAT is administered by the College Board, a non-profit organization in the US, and is widely recognized as a standardized test for college admissions.

If you are an international student interested in studying in the US, you can take the SAT at a testing center in your home country. The College Board has a network of international testing centers where the SAT is administered, so you can find a center near you by visiting the College Board's website. Additionally, you can also get more information on the SAT and how it is used in the college admission process by visiting the College Board's website or contacting the admissions office of the colleges or universities you are interested in attending.

Validity period of SAT test

The validity period of the SAT test varies by institution. Some colleges and universities will accept SAT scores for a limited time after the test was taken, usually 2-3 years, while others have no time limit for accepting SAT scores. However, the College Board, the organization that administers the SAT, retains SAT scores for five years from the date of the exam. If you need your SAT scores to be sent to a college or university after the five-year period has expired, you may be able to request a reprint of your score report.
